Community Reminder to Respect Private Property
ANC 1B is committed to local community growth and cooperation, especially during this crisis. While the District of Columbia is under strict stay-at-home orders, we would like to remind residents to continue treating any private property that might be vacant or unused during this crisis as they would under normal circumstances. This includes but is not limited to Church space, outdoor dining space, and university space.
We join with Howard in respectfully requesting residents to utilize public spaces only under essential circumstances and to refrain from activity on private property. Please see their statement below. Thank you and stay safe.
Howard Statement
Howard University is committed to maintaining a positive relationship with our local community. Even now, Howard University Hospital remains on the front lines of the COVID-19 response serving our neighbors in need of medical care.
The University is adhering to the District of Columbia’s stay-at-home order and reminds all to refrain from using the Upper Quadrangle, bounded by Founders Library and Childers Hall, for dog walking or recreational purposes.
While 4th and 6th Streets, NW are public, Howard Place, the Upper Quadrangle, Lower Quadrangle, and Greene Stadium remain private property.
