Street Extension Program

Earlier today Mayor Bowser announced a Sidewalk Extension Program where sections of some streets would be restricted to allow social distancing to queue for grocery stores and other essential businesses.

Additionally, the program includes the opportunity to restrict sections of some residential streets during certain times to allow residents to leave their homes for a walk, exercise, and enjoy good weather.

DDOT will be providing guidance this week to the ANCs on which streets may be eligible and process for considering requests and approval. Once ANCs have had an opportunity to review and clarify any questions, ANCs will implement a process approved by their Commission.
